CMS 1066

In early October 1995, we received an emergency call from the engineers at American Crystal Sugar Co. hoping to locate some tube inserts with which to restore a failing unit back into service.

Not all that unusual, but when they requested to purchase over 600 inserts for the same unit, we knew there was a real problem and offered our engineering expertise.

It quickly became apparent that American Crystal Sugar had a critical piece of equipment that was sorely inadequate for its purpose. The existing unit could not accommodate the necessary flow rate, and the resulting cavitation forces were rapidly shaking apart. Down time would cost the company in excess of $75,000 a day in lost product and man hours.

CMS responded with a completely redesigned unit that was
smaller, more efficient and had greatly increased capacity. An expedited delivery schedule was also negotiated so that American Crystal Sugar could come back up to speed as quickly as possible.

CMS 1066: A 49" O.D., 24' long steam condenser unit with vapor belt. Constructed shellside of 304L stainless steel and containing (1166) 1" Dia. X 16 BWG 316L stainless Steel tubes. Weight: 28,293#'s.
